The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Forest Service launched a Shared Stewardship Strategy to address land and resource management challenges by working collaboratively with state forestry and other agencies and partners. It is about working together in an integrated way to identify issues, to set priorities, and to do the right work in the right places at the right scale using the best science and technology.   

Meeting Objectives

American Forests is working with the USDA Forest Service and their State Cooperative Forestry partners to host a meeting to:

  • Explore the concept of shared stewardship of forests and landscapes across and within the New England and New York States 
  • Share examples of successful collaborative stewardship activities already underway, including common elements that drive positive outcomes
  • Identify opportunities to expand existing or initiate new collaborations to address current management needs and challenges
  • Discuss shared priorities at the landscape, state, and regional levels
