At this workshop, a diverse group of scientists and natural resource managers will evaluate scientific information on projected changes in climate and impacts on forests to gain a better understanding of how trees and forests are likely to change as a result of a changing climate, as well as which types of ecosystems or ecosystem components may be most at risk. This information will be used to develop a vulnerability assessment to help urban foresters, parks managers, and other natural resource professionals incorporate this complex information into their management planning and activities. This is the first of two workshops, the second of which will focus on developing adaptation strategies and will be held this fall. This assessment will build on information collected as part of the Urban Forest Inventory and Assessment program and methods used to develop similar vulnerability assessments for urban and natural forests. More information about the vulnerability assessment process, including other assessments creating using the same process can be found here.
This is event is free and lunch will be provided. Please RSVP by Friday, May 10th if you are interested in attending this meeting. RSVP here.
