Private landowners own more than half of the woods in Wisconsin. The “Protect Your Woods for Tomorrow” booklet is designed to help landowners consider climate change, and also to help landowners talk with their foresters. This booklet contains four separate "Scorecards" to help landowners think about property-level features such as forest diversity, structure, regeneration, and other factors. Each Scorecard is accompanied by a list of suggested Actions that might help address areas of high risk.
NIACS, American Forest Foundation, Cornell Cooperative Extension, New England Forestry Foundation, and The Nature Conservancy came up with the original concept and the layout for this booklet. Kris Tiles from University of Wisconsin-Extension took the original model and modified it to work for woodlands in Wisconsin. We hope you enjoy this resource!
