Forest Conservation and Stewardship Summit and Adaptation Workshop

Presentations from this event (Day 1 and Day 2) are posted below.

Event Summary:

NIACS partnered with Heart of the Lakes and the Inter-Tribal Council of Michigan to gather natural resource professionals from Michigan’s tribes, land conservancies, and other organizations around a common theme: forest conservation in an era of rapid change. Participants learned about emerging threats like climate change, deer browse, and forest pests, which cross all ownerships and have the potential to alter our shared natural environment in profound ways over the next century.

The first day of this meeting was a large summit for a general audience, including a panel discussion and several expert speakers. A day-long workshop on the second day provided an opportunity for hands-on training for people to consider climate adaptation actions for their own real-world project.
